With insight from Darlyn Davenport and Bobbie Dion, the Auxiliary President and Membership Vice President, respectively, the establishment of the Southeast Cluster Unit began at the home of Jewel Kelley in May 1997. Nine Charter Members met and toured the Hospital. Later, 32 women were invited to form a new Auxiliary Unit, which would represent the diverse communities of Southeast San Diego. In approximately one year’s time, the Unit grew to 41 members, held successful fundraising events and produced a 1998-1999 Auxiliary Board member. Our goal is to raise awareness about the significance of Rady Children’s and continue to support its efforts through various fundraising activities.
Our Unit’s personality is best described as dependable, creative, hardworking and supportive. The majority of members divide their time between one or more community-based organizations, each dedicated to the Auxiliary Mission Statement.
